Venezuela’s Departure from Honkbal Tournament Changes Format; NJCAA All-Stars Will Play a Total of Eight Games

Tournament will now be a double-round robin

HAARLEM, Netherlands – Tournament officials of the 2010 Honkbal Tournament were informed Saturday evening that the team representing Venezuela was still not across the Atlantic Ocean and thus decided to cancel their trip to the tournament. The disappointing news forced tournament officials to change the format of the tournament to guarantee a 20-game schedule due to sponsorship commitments. Thus, the five teams currently participating in the tournament will play one another twice, with the team accumulating the most victories by Sunday, June 18th being crowned champions.

Additional details are yet to be released but an official schedule has been set for the remainder of the tournament. The NJCAA / USA All-Stars will play Cuba Sunday, June 11th at 11:30 a.m. (5:30 a.m. Eastern) and the Netherlands Monday, June 12th at 7 p.m. (1 p.m. Eastern). After a two day break, USA will play the Netherlands again on June 15th at 7 p.m. (1 p.m. Eastern), Cuba at 7 p.m. (1 p.m. Eastern) on July 16th, Chinese Taipei at 2 p.m. (6 a.m. Eastern) on June 17th and Japan at 11 a.m. (5 a.m. Eastern) on June 18th.
