NJCAA USA All-Star Team
The 2010 NJCAA All-Star Team is comprised of 24 players from colleges that are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The NJCAA is the national governing body for two-year college athletics and the second-largest intercollegiate association in the United States.
In December of 2009, officials from the Honkbal Tournament in the Netherlands contacted the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association to inquire about sending a team to their tournament to represent the United States. Traditionally, USA Baseball has sent their collegiate team to the event but was unable to commit to attending the 2010 tournament due to a scheduling conflict. USA Baseball recommended that the Honkball Tournament get in touch with the NJCAA.
“We are really excited to have the NJCAA All-Star Team play in our tournament,” said Honkbal Tournament official Roderick Ball in Jaunary. “Of course we were very happy that Eric Campbell of USA Baseball recommended the NJCAA to us. We also sought advice from former MLB player and manager Davey Johnson, who was also very positive about the NJCAA.”
The NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association then called for player nominations and selected a team made up of 24 players from NJCAA member colleges.
